Student Minister Arthur Muhammad is a lifelong resident of the City of Mount Vernon, New York and has served his community in many professional capacities. He is the former Director of the Mount Vernon Re-Entry Program where he helped dozens of young men and woman reestablish themselves back into the community after years of incarceration. He is the former Program Director for the SNUG Program (“guns” spelled backwards), where he worked with gang members to attain employment, seek higher education, and de-escalate violence in the Mount Vernon community. He is currently the Youth Development Specialist with the Mount Vernon City School District and serves a member of the Public Safety Committee for the City of Mount Vernon.
Student Minister Arthur, graduated from Iona College in 1987, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and attained a Master’s Degree in Education from the American College of Education. He is a former rap artist with the Zulu Nation and spends his pastime as a professional D.J.
Brother Arthur joined the Nation of Islam in 1988. Over his 37 years of service as a member of Mosque No. 7 in Harlem, New York, he has served as an Orientation Class Instructor, Squad Leader, Lieutenant, Drill Instructor, and Student in the Ministry. He is currently the Student Minister of Muhammad Mosque No. 7 and as the Eastern Regional Minister, he is responsible for 17 mosques throughout the Eastern Region from New Jersey to Canada. Brother Arthur has been married for 31 years to Sister Judge Nichelle Muhammad and they have 4 daughters.
